Presented is a complete set of the incredibly important 1948 Bowman Baseball issue, the first postwar nationally distributed card set and one distinguished by a startling number of Rookie cards, often of some of the legendary figures of the period. That last description applies to the great Stan Musial, found here in an Authentic card that would typically be designated as Poor because of a tiny section of one corner being missing. The offered array is found in a relatively wide condition range of essentially Good to Ex-Mt, with a handful of cards falling below and one card above the range to Near-Mint. As noted, there are a half-dozen Rookie cards of Hall of Famers to go with so many others in this groundbreaking issue, a roster that includes Musial, Yogi Berra, Warren Spahn, Phil Rizzuto, Red Schoendienst and Ralph Kiner. The breakdown: Near-Mint – No. 11; Ex-Mt (12) – No. 1 Elliott Rookie, 2 Blackwell Rookie, 4 Mize o/c, 10, 15, 19, 23 o/c, 25, 31, 32, 37 and 38 Schoendienst Rookie; Excellent (9) – No. 7, 12 Sain m/c, 14 Reynolds Rookie, 26, 28, 29, 33, 39 m/c and 41 o/c; Very Good (11) – No. 5 Feller, 16, 18 Spahn Rookie, 21, 27, 34 o/c, 40 Marion Rookie, 42, 43 o/c, 45 Sauer Rookie and 46; Good (9) – No. 3 Kiner Rookie, 8 Rizzuto Rookie, 9, 13, 17 Slaughter, 20, 22, 35 Stirnweiss Rookie o/c and 48; Fair (5) – No. 6 Berra Rookie, 24, 30 Lockman Rookie, 44 and 47 Thomson Rookie; No. 36 Musial is Authentic.
