This is a very impressive array of cards from the distinctive 1955 Bowman Baseball issue, the classic offering that showcased the great stars and players of the era in handsome color TV sets at a time when nobody owned such a thing. The offered array is in an attractive condition of essentially Very Good to Near-Mt, with barely more than 10 percent falling below the range, mostly to Good. It comes out to broadly 20 percent being Ex-Mt to Near-Mint, 29 percent Excellent and 34 percent Very Good. The roster includes a number of cards from some of the stars and All-Stars of the era, along with three cards from the difficult High-Number Series and just a whisper of duplication. Here’s the breakdown: No. 4 Waitkus – Excellent-Plus, 20 Smith – Ex-Plus, 21 Hoak – Very Good, 56 Cox – Ex, 99 Coleman – VG, 102 Thomson – Ex-Mt, 107 Hemus – Ex-Plus, 109 Stephens – Near-Mint, 124 Antonelli – VG, 126 Goodman – VG, 154 Lary – VG, 157 Johnson – Nr-Mt, 185 Raschi – Ex-Plus, 188 Garver – Ex-Mt-Plus, 199 Law – VG-Ex, 207 Shea – Ex-Mt, 216 Roe – Good, plus Freese, Lopata, Trucks and Yost.
