Presented is a truly unique 1966 Topps Baseball Partial set that requires the bidder to balance the competing aspects of incredibly sharp corners, vivid colors and spectacular gloss (and remarkably clean and snow-white backs) with the curiosity of less-than-stellar centering, some odd cuts, and sizing that meanders between slightly oversized to occasionally undersized to a similar degree. At 490 cards, it represents roughly 82 percent of a complete set, and while a number of the key Hall of Famers are missing, there are still more than 20 present, including the likes of Aaron (slightly undersized), Yastrzemski, Frank Robinson, Gibson, Stargell and the Jenkins and Sutton Rookies. Simply put, the offered partial set boasts virtually unrivaled corners, color and gloss to go with a description of Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint, with a few below, all of which has to be balanced against what can only be described a truly unusual cut. That said, a significant number of the cards deemed Near-Mint actually present much better but wind up with the more-modest grade because of centering or inordinately tight cuts. If blazing colors and poke-your-eye-out corners are the only criteria, the offered array is without a challenger, easily the boldest presentation of this important set that we’ve ever encountered, but count on much of this set being met with a "Minimum Size Requirement" or "Miscut" result if submitted to PSA. The roster includes those aforementioned Hall of Famers (20), plus 31 Rookies, eight of 12 League Leaders, 13 Team cards, and all seven Checklists, though Series One and Three are cut noticeably short.
