Presented is a truly outstanding complete set of the iconic 1971 Topps Baseball issue, the company’s largest set to that date and an important element to countless advanced postwar collections. Arguably the most condition-sensitive mainstream issue that Topps ever produced, the 1971 Topps Baseball set has bedeviled collectors for decades because of the susceptibility to showing wear on the full-bleed black borders. The offered set is particularly impressive, largely Near-Mint example, with some above and a few below, an array that boasts crisp black borders with minimal chipping. Two cards have been third-party graded: No. 55 Carlton – BGS 5.5 and No. 709 Baker Rookie – PSA 6. The set provides a nice consistent and uniform presentation, with good gloss and clean backs. Breakdown of keys: No. 1 Orioles Team – VG-Ex, 5 Munson – Ex-Mt-Plus, 20 Jackson – Excellent, 100 Rose – Ex-Mt, 160 Seaver – VG-Ex, 180 Kaline – Nr-Mt, 183 Hodges – Ex-Mt, 210 Carew (2) – Nr-Mt and Ex-Mt, 230 Stargell – VG-Ex, 248 Wilhelm – Ex, 250 Bench – VG-Ex, 264 Morgan – Nr-Mt, 280 Jenkins – Ex-Mt-Plus, 290 Oliva – VG-Ex, 300 Brooks Robinson – VG-Ex, 341 Garvey Rookie – Ex-Mt, 350 Billy Williams – Ex-Mt-Plus, 370 Torre – Ex, 380 Ted Williams – VG-Ex, 400 Aaron – Ex-Mt-Plus, 450 Gibson – Nr-Mt, 513 Ryan – Ex-Mt, 525 Banks – Nr-Mt, 530 Yastrzemski – Nr-Mt, 550 Killebrew – VG-Ex, 570 Palmer – VG, 580 Perez – Nr-Mt, 600 Mays – VG, and 630 Clemente – VG-Ex.
