Presented is a huge array of cards from 1969 Topps Football, most prominently the regular-issue cards in an array that features more than six dozen Hall of Famers, but also with a similarly imposing group of the unique Four-in-One Inserts from that same year, with the vast majority of the latter found as individual cards rather than intact in the Four-in-One Insert backing. The colorful and condition-sensitive 1969 Topps Football issue with the full-bleed color borders in the first series was the last great Topps football issue of the decade, offered here in Excellent to Ex-Mt condition, with some below and a significant number reaching Near-Mint. The offered array obviously includes a good deal of duplication, often involving the great Hall of Famers from the period, and would provide the winning bidder with a great vehicle to launch on building several complete sets or to upgrade existing ones. Here’s the breakdown of keys: Adderley (4), Alworth, Bell (6), Biletnikoff (5), Blanda (2), Brodie (5), Buchanan (2), Buoniconti (5), Butkus (3), Griese (3), Jones (8), Jordan (3), Jurgensen, Kelly, Little (4), Mackey (3), Namath (Ex-Mt-Plus), Meredith, Otto (5), Piccolo, Renfro (3), Starr (2, Ex-Mt-Plus), Tarkenton (3), Charley Taylor (3), Otis Taylor (3), Unitas (Ex-Mt-Plus), Wilson, Wood and two Checklists. The Four-in-One Insert array, broadly falling in a similar condition range with the regular-issue cards and representing about 1/3 of the lot total, is easily one of the more unusual Topps insert efforts from the period, with four of the Mini 1-by-1 ½-inch perforated cards on a single panel. In this grouping about 250 have been removed from the 2 ½-by-3 ½-inch card backing and another 50 or so have been affixed to the 63 Booklets included in the lot; a dozen of the Inserts are included in intact, unperforated form, a group that includes Hall of Famers Tarkenton, Hayes, Little, Bell, Buoniconti, Wood, Mix and Csonka. An estimated 150 or so Four-in-Ones have been affixed to some of the 63 Booklets included in the lot, with almost three dozen HOFers featured in that segment.
