This is an attractive gamer from one of the legendary figures in Chicago Bears history, a game-worn road jersey attributed to linebacker Doug Buffone towards the end of his standout 14-year career. The white-mesh shirt has the navy-blue collar and screened-on numerals and striping, with the Bears’ (Wilson) traditional diagonally cut shoulder seams with single-ply shoulder panels. The NOB is a replacement name on a replacement plate, with original thread remnants visible. It has Wilson Size 46 tail labeling and shows solid wear with extensive shoulder repairs. The jersey style was used on the road extensively in 1971 but also in 1972 for warm-weather road games. Buffone was a popular figure in Chicagoland, and played in 186 games for the Bears, the third-highest figure in franchise history. He retired with 24 interceptions, the club record for a linebacker.
