Here’s a great piece linked to a solid major league outfielder in his final minor-league stop before ascending (again) to the Bigs, a Gary Roenicke Rochester Red Wings game-worn red-knit pullover with tapered tail from 1978 and pants. Shirt has the V-neck, with red, white and blue and white shoulder and sleeve panels. Script “Red Wings” is in black-on-white tackle twill on the front and numerals front and back are in the same fashion. Wilson Size 44 labeling is at the collar, along with distributor collar label of “Jim Dalberth Sporting Goods, Rochester, NY.” The pants have the two-snap front in blue and white waistband stamping and Wilson Size 43 labeling, with red knit “76 24” swatch and a second swatch indecipherable. After a sparkling campaign with the fabled Red Wings in early 1978, batting .307 with 13 homers and 64 RBI, Roenicke’s efforts earned him a return to call to the big club in Baltimore, and he would remain in the majors until 1988, his best seasons with the Orioles en route to lifetime MLB marks of 121 homers, 410 RBI and a .247 batting average.
