Presented is an outstanding example of an early 1920s tabletop baseball game, the popular “The Great American Game” metal baseball field from the Hustler Toy Co. The 14-by-9-inch game is an early version of the popular spinner and dice baseball games that would be played for generations, with the tin baseball field boasting simply superb color and remarkably pristine condition, with the spring-aided spinner on the right side of the board in solid working order; in addition, the arrows denoting balls and strikes and runs are intact, a rarity in a game that is more than 100 years old. The offered example also features 13 of the difficult wooden pegs that are used to record game action, another rarity in typical examples of the game that was produced by Frantz Manufacturing Co. The game has the red, wood base and is in truly spectacular condition, essentially Ex-Mt, with almost none of the dreaded dings or scrapes that are typically encountered with metal baseball fields.
