November 17, 2022: Fall Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/17/2022
Presented is an imposing lot of 350 cards from the popular and colorful 1959 Topps Baseball issue, an array that turns out to be 61 percent of a complete set and found here in a sparkling, mostly Ex-Mt to Near-Mint condition, with a significant number of Excellent examples. The array boasts super color and gloss, along with notably clean and bright card backs, that last observation particularly relevant to a group of nearly three dozen cards from the difficult high-number series. A lineup of a couple of Hall of Famers and a more than a dozen Specials includes 10 of the charming Combination cards (Nos. 17, 74, 147, 156, 262, 291, 346, 383, 428 and 519). The array would provide a great opportunity to launch on building a high-grade complete set, especially for a collector who might have some of the HOF keys already on board. Breakdown of stars, minor stars and All-Stars: Adcock, Allison, Antonelli, Avila, Bell, Blanchard, Buhl, Cardwell, Carrasquel, Cerv, Covington, Dark, Donovan, Duren, Erskine, Francona, Friend, Furillo, Garver, Grant, Groat, Grissom, Hegan, Hoak, Hoeft, Deron Johnson, Jones, Kuenn, Larker, Lary, Law, Lemon, Logan, Lollar, Lopez, Lumpe, Maglie, Mantilla, Maxwell, McMillan, Miller, Monbouquette, Mossi, Neal, O’Dell, O'Toole, Pafko, Pappas, Pascual, Pearson, Pizarro, Post, Power, Purkey, Romano, Runnels, Rush, Sanford, Score, Shantz, Shaw, Simmons, Skinner, Stuart, Taylor, Thomas, Triandos, Trucks, Turley, Vernon, Wagner, Yost, Zernial and Zimmer.
