Presented is a pristine partial set from 1984 Star Co. Basketball, the folks who stepped into the basketball card vacuum in the early 1980s after Topps stepped away for a while and Fleer was waiting in the wings with its blockbuster effort in 1986. As has always been the case with the Star Co. issues, the tiny print runs and unique distribution channels has meant that much of what turns up is in superior grades, and that’s the case here with essentially as-issued blazers. Cards are mostly Near-Mint to Mint, with perhaps a few Near-Mint hiding in the weeds. The array offered here is missing some of the keys – most notably the Jordan Rookie and others – with checklisting as follows for the 288-card set: No cards from Nos. 1-25 and Nos. 49-60, also missing No. 82, then no cards from Nos. 97-108 and from Nos. 121-168, then also missing No. 172 and 175 and nothing after No. 179. We think that adds up to 83/288. There are also 25 Stickers in the same blessed condition range.
