Here are 10 complete sets from the 1981 Topps Baseball issue looking much as they must have when they rolled off the presses 40 years ago, which is to say Near-Mint or better for six of the 10 sets and barely below that for the other four. This is an historic issue, marking the first Topps set following the end of the company’s fabled quarter-century monopoly in the business. The offered array boasts excellent color and gloss and a lineup of Hall of Famers and stars that conform to the wider condition range. Six of the 10 sets are broadly Near-Mint or better, one set is Ex-Mt to Near-Mint and three sets are closer to Excellent to Ex-Mt. That’s almost 8,000 cards in truly outstanding condition in one of the more important Topps issues of the modern era.
