Like a companion lot from his buddy Roger Maris, presented is yet another extraordinary example of one of the most coveted bobbin head dolls from the early 1960s, the Mickey Mantle figure that arrived the year after his historic 1961 season when he and Roger chased the 60-home-run record established by somebody named Ruth. The Near-Mint Mantle figure is 7 ½ inches, with the White Square Base, and is nothing short of sensational, almost without incident, and boasting a superb paint job, with nice patina and excellent gloss; the delicate Mantle facsimile autograph decal reveals just the barest whisper of chipping. Like the adjacent Maris bobbin head, it’s hard to imagine finding a more enticing example of this key figurine.
