Here are 14 cards from the inaugural 1960 Fleer Football issue that are just about as good as it gets, which is to say Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint blazers, an array that is headlined by five PSA-graded examples that includes a blistering PSA 8 card of No. 58 George Blanda. The group signals the pro football inaugural for both Fleer and the fledgling American Football League, both of which would – over time – make their marks in their respective arenas. As noted, the No. 58 Blanda card in a PSA 8 holders, joined by No. 56 and No. 98 (both PSA 8s as well), No. 123 (PSA 7) and No. 130 (PSA 6). Unslabbed but no less glorious and intimidating: No. 29, 49, 70, 78, 93, 94, 119, 127 and 129. For someone looking to upgrade even the nicest 1960 Fleer Football set or launch on building a new one, this is the place to stop and take a look.
