Here is the iconic card set that launched the era of the modern-sized baseball card, the classic 1957 Topps Baseball issue that is found here in an appealing mostly Very Good to Ex-Mt condition. Four cards have been third-party slabbed and graded: No. 10 Mays – PSA 4, No. 35 Frank Robinson Rookie – PSA 4, No. 76 Clemente – PSA 4 and No. 329 Brooks Robinson Rookie – PSA 4. Headlined by the great stars of the Golden Years of 1950s Baseball, the 1957 Topps set was the first issued in what has now been the standard size for nearly seven decades – 2 ½-by-3 ½ inches – neatly presented in a no-frills card front that showcased traditional color photography rather than colorized black-and-white imagery that had been the custom for years. This offering comes out to two percent Near-Mint, 25 percent Ex-Mt, 27 percent Excellent, 34 percent Very Good and 10 percent Good, with only a half dozen or so cards below. In an issue that was notorious for centering difficulties, this array conforms to the narrative, with perhaps 1/4 of the array with the kind of centering that might prompt thoughts of an upgrade, though not all of those would be severe enough to dictate a formal off-center designation.
