Here’s an intriguing lot that would almost qualify as a “Type Card” collection, with an eclectic roster that is almost entirely Topps but touches on three decades, save only for that handsome 1940 Play Ball No. 63-64 DiMaggio/Keller that is in Excellent-Plus condition. It’s only right that a beloved Hall of Famer should headline an array that is almost exclusively of HOF caliber. In the listing that follows, the cards shown are the regular-issue version unless otherwise indicated. Here’s the breakdown: 1) 1940 Play Ball No. 63-64 DiMaggio/Keller – Excellent-Plus; 2) 1956 Topps Kell – Fair; 3) 1957 (3) – Very Good with Kell, Schoendienst and Skowron; 4) 1958 (10) – including Mantle All-Star (Excellent), Banks All-Star (Very Good-Plus), Mathews All-Star – Ex-Mt, Spahn, Frank Robinson, All-Star Managers and Bunning (4) – Very Good to Ex-Mt; 5) 1959 (4) – Campanella (Good), Anderson Rookie (Fair), Killebrew (Fair) and Pierce All-Star; 6) 1960 (2) – Mantle (Fair) and Bunning; 7) 1961 (2) – Mays (Ex-Mt) and Groat MVP; 8) 1962 (2) – Clemente (undersize) and Powell; 9) 1963-66 (8) – Excellent to Ex-Mt, including 1964 Bunning and Conigliaro Rookie (VG), and 1965 Koufax (Good), No. 8 Leaders and Yankees Team; 10) 1969 (3) – all three Mantle Fifth Series Checklists (one Good and two Fair); 11) 1970 (2) – Aaron (VG) and Clemente (VG); 12) 1971 (36) – mostly Good to Excellent with 32 Hall of Famers, including Ryan (2), Aaron, Jackson, Rose, Yastrzemski, Stargell (3), Simmons Rookie (VG), Billy Williams, Morgan (2), Kaline (2), Gibson (2), Carew, Seaver (2), Banks, Bench, Brooks Robinson and Carlton; 13) 1972 (22) – Very Good to Excellent, with some above, including Jackson, Fisk Rookie (Fair), Frank Robinson and nine (9) League Leaders; 14) 1973 (4) – Bench, Yastrzemski, Palmer and Brock; 15) 1974 (7) – Winfield Rookie (VG-Ex), Parker Rookie (2), Schmidt and Frank Robinson; 16) 1975 (10) – with three Highlights, Palmer, McCovey, Hunter and one MVP and five (5) Minis; and 17) 1976-79 (11) – all Hall of Famers.
