Offered here is a solid example of an important Topps issue from the 1970’s, the 660-card 1973 set, found here in a really sharp, attractive and consistent presentation. The set is a sparkling, mostly Near-Mint or better condition, with some Ex-Mt and the Hall of Famers and stars generally conforming to the broader condition range, with some exceptions noted below, including a PSA 5 Mike Schmidt Rookie. This was the final time that Topps printed and distributed the cards in series throughout the spring and summer, a format that ruled for more than two decades. The higher numbers are symbolically important because they are the last of the breed, with sets going forward printed all at the same time rather than staggered through the spring and summer. The breakdown of keys: No. 1 Leaders – Very Good, 50 Clemente – Ex-Mt-Plus, 67 League Leaders – Ex-Mt-Plus, 100 Aaron – VG-Ex, 130 Rose – Near-Mint, 142 Munson – Ex-Mt-Plus o/c, 174 Gossage Rookie – Ex-Mt, 193 Fisk – Ex-Mt, 220 Ryan – Excellent, 245 Yastrzemski – Ex-Mt o/c, 280 Kaline – Nr-Mt, 305 Mays – Ex-Mt-Plus, 330 Carew – VG-Ex, 350 Seaver – Nr-Mt, 380 Bench – VG-Ex, 471 Cobb All-Time – Nr-Mt, 472 Gehrig All-Time – VG-Ex, 473 Aaron All-Time – Nr-Mt o/c, 474 Ruth All-Time – Ex-Mt-Plus, 475 Cobb All-Time – Nr-Mt, 476 Johnson All-Time – Nr-Mt, 477 Young All-Time Nr-Mt o/c, 478 Johnson All-Time – Ex, 614 Evans Rookie – Ex-Mt (odd cut) and 615 Schmidt Rookie – PSA 5.
