Presented are a dozen examples of Topps’ final entry in the baseball card arena as a sole proprietor, the 1980 issue that marked the final year of the company’s quarter-century monopoly, with the emergence of Fleer and Donruss as competitors the next year. This pristine, essentially as-issued dozen of sets features six complete sets, right down to the key Rickey Henderson Rookie card, and six other near sets in the same blazing Near-Mint to Near-Mint to Mint condition but missing Rickey and various other keys along the way. Breakdown of the partial sets: 1) missing three cards (3), including Henderson and Rice; 2) missing 25 cards, including Henderson, Rice, Ryan, Bench, Murray, Brett, Jackson, Yount, Molitor and Seaver; 3) missing 28 cards, including Henderson, Rice, Bench, Ryan, Murray, Brett, Jackson, Stargell and Yastrzemski; 4) missing 32 cards, including Henderson, Rice, Bench, Ryan, Murray, Brett, Jackson and Stargell; 5) missing 34 cards, including Henderson, Rice, Ryan, Murray, Brett, Jackson and Stargell; and 6) missing 45 cards, including Henderson, Rice, Ryan, Brett, Jackson, Stargell, Yastrzemski, Yount, McCovey, Molitor, Seaver, Rose and Carew.
