Presented is a partial set of Fleer’s 1965 non-sport “Hogan’s Heroes,” the unlikely sitcom that managed to largely evade the inherent difficulties of producing a television show centered in a German Prisoner of War Camp a mere two decades after the close of World War II. The standard-size cards feature black-and-white images (with red spot color) of scenes from the CBS television series that would ultimately run for six years and 168 episodes, all the while securing its place in the cultural folklore. The set includes images of Hogan (Bob Crane), Col. Klink (Werner Klemperer) and the redoubtable Sgt. Schultz (John Banner), along with Richard Dawson as Corporal Newkirk; the offered array is essentially Very Good to Excellent, with some below. For trivia buffs, it’s worth noting that one of the show’s creators, Albert S. Ruddy, would earn greater fame a few years later as the producer of “The Godfather,” at the time the most successful and revered film in history.
