Here’s a cool item that links two of the giants in the baseball card collecting hobby, an empty case of Topps Baseball from 1976 that was addressed to Larry Fritsch Cards in Stevens Point, Wis., by then already perhaps the largest and most significant dealer in the country. The 10-by-17-inch – and 11 inches across – box once held 24 of those fabled vending boxes, which in turn boasted 500 pristine Topps cards in each and every one. A 7 ½-by-4-inch mailing label from Topps on one side is addressed to Fritsch; the box shows normal corner wear, with some slight corner separation on two corners and minor paper loss to one end.
