Offered is a truly impressive grouping of the 1970 and 1971 Topps Supers, the oversized 3 1/8-by-5 ¼-inch cards that portray many of the top stars of the day in striking full-color, borderless photos on the front and backs that are essentially enlargements of their regular-issue 1970 and 1971 Topps cards, albeit on a much heavier cardstock and with rounded corners. This grouping, constituting a near set from 1970, missing only eight cards from the 42-card issue, boasts three dozen Hall of Famers and is in a consistent Near-Mint or better condition, with vivid colors and nice gloss and crisp and clean backs. There is a good deal of duplication within the array, much of it involving some of the Tier One Hall of Famers and biggest stars of the day. The breakdown of keys: 1970 (78)– Brock (2), McCovey (4), Niekro (3), Mays (2), Stargell (2), Jackson (2), Yastrzemski (2), Gibson (6 – one has a sticker affixed), Rose (3), Frank Robinson (Very Good) and Williams (3) – the missing Nos.: No. 5, 12, 17, 20, 21, 38, 41 and 42; and 1971 (17) – including Oliva, Aparicio and Gibson.
