Here are a half dozen factory sets from the company that revolutionized the hobby in 1989 with a groundbreaking issue that changed all the rules for the next generation of card makers. With a simple but elegant card design, enhanced photography and the glitzy hologram that set the company apart from the beginning, the 1989 Upper Deck set parlayed all of that and then rolled the dice on the No. 1 card in the set with Ken Griffey Jr. The rest is history. Two factory sets from 1989 headline this group, with one sealed and the second revealing modest wear and slight paper loss to the box to go with a Near-Mint-Plus Griffey card. The remaining four sets – one each from 1990 and 1992 and two (2) from 1993 – are still in the original factory cellophane, so we all know what that means.
