This is an impressive pair of the important Baltimore Orioles Bobbin Head Dolls from the 1967 Gold Base Series and a similarly outstanding pair of Houston Bobbin Heads of the Colt .45s and the Astros. Starting with the Orioles, with a pair of figures that boast excellent color and gloss. One piece has some painting chipping, most prominently to the back of the head and on the Gold Base and the uniform and cap decals on the figures have just a wee bit of chipping. There is some modest loss to the Orioles bird logo decal on the cap and not so much as even a whisper of difficulty with the delicate “Orioles” across the front of the jersey or the “Baltimore” decal at the front of the gold base. 1961 and 1967 Houston Colt .45s and Astros Bobbin Head Dolls (2) - This is an attractive pair of figures from the storied history of the Houston franchise, a stunning example of the rare Houston Colt .45s Bobbin Head Doll from the 1961-63 White Base Series, one of the truly difficult pieces to find from this series and a similarly attractive figure from the 1967-72 Gold Base Series. The six-inch, square-base figure has virtually none of the dreaded chipping that is part and parcel of so many of these vintage treasures, but does have dirt and staining concerns, most notably on the 25-gallon hat and the 2 ½-inch-square base; the “Colt .45” decal across the front of the hat is without chipping, as is the larger version of the same logo on the base. The statue presents in Excellent fashion but there are notable remnants alongside the right side of the hat and across the back of the jersey. Even with flaws, it’s a prime example of one of the difficult pieces from this particular sub-genre.
