Presented is a neat grouping of vintage bobbin head dolls, including two figures from the Cardinals in the 1960s and a pair of 1970s figures from the New Orleans Saints. We start with a standout pair of the 1970s Saints Bobbin Heads, the 7 ½-inch plastic figures with Gold Base. These figures boast an outstanding paint scheme virtually devoid of any of the dreaded chipping. The colors are particularly vivid, most notably the striking black-and-gold combination, and the gloss is excellent; in otherwise problem-free figures, one has minor nicks to the “Saints” decal on the front and even tinier nicks to “00” on one shoulder and on the back; on the second there is some minor loss to the Saints logo decals on both sides of the helmet. The first Cardinals piece is from the 1962 six-inch, Red Base Series, a figure that presents in Ex-Mt fashion, with virtually none of the dreaded paint chipping that so commonly afflicts these dolls, save only for some minor nicks directly on the underside of the head, which are only visible with the most careful scrutiny and don't reveal with normal upright presentation. The 2 ½-inch square Red Base also reveals a couple of minor paint chips; the gold NFL logo sticker is intact and unmolested, as are the two striking Cardinals Redbird decals on each side of the helmet. The second Cardinals figure is an attractive example of the popular 1968 seven-inch, Gold Base Series, an outstanding figure that presents in Ex-Mt fashion, virtually free of the dreaded chipping that customarily afflicts these figures, and boasting really nice, vivid color and gloss, most notably the famed Cardinal Red from the iconic team color scheme; there is some minor chipping on the “Redbird” decal on the right side of the helmet. There is some chipping and cracking to the bottom of the face piece which typically can only be seen by holding the figure upside down. The delicate metal faceguard is present and intact.
