Here is a Johnny Evers card from one of the difficult early tobacco issues, the 1914 T213 Coupon Cigarettes Type 2 offering that mimics the images of T206 cards but is markedly rarer. The fact that the cards were produced and distributed almost exclusively in Louisiana only adds to their cachet. This is a well-known depiction of the Hall of Famer that is found in a PSA 1.5 holder, with card centering left to right of perhaps 65/35; the pastel yellow and green background colors set off the image of the legendary second sacker, and the “Evers, Boston Nat.” typeface in blue is one of the distinctive elements that differentiates it from its T206 counterparts. The Coupon Cigarettes back is decent, with some modest staining and very light toning.
