Here are two of the most coveted and widely known uncut sheets in the hobby, a pair of 9 ½-by-11-inch paper versions of the famed 1941 Play Ball cards, a wartime conservation experiment that turned into a collector’s item decades later. Depicting exactly 1/3 of the 72-card complete set, the sheets picture Nos. 1-12 and 13-24, a segment that includes nine Hall of Famers and many of the great stars of the era. The sheets are in really sharp condition, with wonderful, vivid colors and a particularly clean and attractive presentation. Sheet No. 1 is in Ex-Mt-Plus condition and features Nos. 1-12: Miller, West, Walters, Derringer, McCormick, Hubbell, Danning, Ott, May, Vaughan, Garms and Brown; Sheet No. 2 is Ex-Mt and features Nos. 13-24: Foxx, Ted Williams, Cronin, Trosky, Weatherly, Greenberg, Gehringer, Ruffing, Keller, Johnson, McQuinn and Leonard.
