Presented is an important artifact from one of the great MLB dynasties of the 1970s, a game-worn Oakland Athletics jersey from the club’s legendary speedster Bert Campaneris. The home white-knit pullover is from the third year of the team’s 1972-74 World Series threepeat; the shirt has the braided sleeve-end accents and the yellow-on-kelly-green tackle twill for the A’s on the front and Campy’s No. 19. The NOB on the back is green tackle twill. McAuliffe labeling with adjacent swatches indicate Size 38 and 1974. The shirt reveals minimal wear from the six-time All-Star who ended his career with 649 steals, placing him in seventh place on the all-time rankings at the time of his retirement in 1983. He led the American League in steals six times in eight seasons from 1965-72.
