This lot features a partial set of 1954 Johnston Cookies Milwaukee Braves, found here in roughly Fair to Very Good condition, a fairly typical range for the unique regional issue from the producers of card sets for the Braves during the team’s inaugural years in Milwaukee in the mid-1950’s. This was the second year that Johnston Cookies produced cards of the Braves, with a format change to a narrow 2-by-3 7/8 inches. Here’s the breakdown: Excellent – Bruton; VG-Ex (4) – Pendleton (o/c), Paine, Spahn and Burdette; Very Good (2) – Buhl and Conley; Good (8) – Crandall, O’Connell, Gorin, Jolly, Crone, Metkovich, Cooney and Keely; Fair (5) – Ditmer, Wilson, Mathews, Calderone and Jay; and Poor (2) – Walters and Johnson (blank back).
