Here is an impressive array of sample jerseys – mostly from the 1970s – including examples from Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Gary Carter and Gaylord, plus two from Pete Rose and another from Vida Blue, plus a 1940s St. Louis Browns shirt. Here’s the breakdown: 1) Mid 1970s Hank Aaron Milwaukee Brewers Home Jersey – This is a McAuliffe Brewers 1970s sample, with an incorrect Wilson label from another jersey added. It has the V-neck, paneled sleeve accents and correct Brewers font, with the numerals font questionable.; 2) 1976 Pete Rose Cincinnati Reds Home Jersey – This home V-neck knit has Rawlings-style rounded tail, with tackle twill numbers, with numbers font slightly incorrect for 1970s Reds home jerseys. The shirt never had the 1976 Bicentennial patch on the sleeve and was lettered and numbered to be Pete Rose. The Rawlings Size 44 dual flap tag is faded on the inner tail.; 3) 1978 Pete Rose Cincinnati Reds Road Jersey – This is a grey Wilson-made knit with red/white/red V-neck collar and red/white sleeve-end accents. Identifiers are correct but Wilson Size 44 color label and tail year swatch are incorrect.; 4) 1970s Gary Carter Montreal Expos Road Jersey – This blue knit shirt has the seven-button front, light-blue satin inner-collar lining and red/white/blue sleeve braid trim. It has two-color blue-on-white tackle twill numbers, with the No. 8 font slightly different but still noticeable. A Wilson label appears at the collar and the garment never had a NOB.; 5) 1970s Gaylord Perry San Diego Padres Jersey – This yellow knit shirt has the seven-button front, brown knit collar and brown/yellow sleeve accents, plus brown braid vertical side-seam accents and brown tackle twill identifiers. Perry was not with San Diego during this style usage, so likely a blank Padres 1972-73 sample shirt with “Perry” and his No. 36 added to create a Perry display jersey.; 6) 1977 Vida Blue San Francisco Giants Jersey – This orange knit shirt has the V-neck with orange/black/white neck and sleeve accents, “San Francisco” on front in black-on-white tackle twill. With a Wilson Size 42 label at the collar, this is a sample blank jersey, with “Vida” and No. 14 added to create a Blue display jersey.; 7) 1940s St. Louis Browns Jersey – This road grey flannel has the seven-button front, with St. Louis underscored script in brown felt on the front and the No. 2 has been altered with later-period felt. The shirt never had the Brownie patch on the sleeve and is clearly a Browns sample jersey from the late 1940s or early 1950s.; 8) 1970 Kansas City Royals Jersey – This home cotton flannel has royal-blue braid piping on the collar and sleeve ends, with the team patch (first year of patch was 1970) on the left sleeve and Wilson Size 42 tail labeling. This is a sample jersey, with year swatch unlike exemplars of Wilson or the team.; 9) 1973-75 Kansas City Royals Jersey – This V-neck light-blue knit is a sample jersey with all sewn-on identifiers and Sand-Knit Size 42 tail labeling.; 10) 1971 Chicago White Sox Home Jersey – This red pinstripe cotton flannel has the intact zipper front, plus two-color red-on-white tackle twill identifiers and the team patch on the left sleeve. This is a sample; a gamer would have the name on a swatch at the collar and Wilson label in the tail. This jersey displays oversized back numbers and is in nice overall condition, with some staining on the front that could be addressed.; and 11) 1970s Minnesota Twins Road Jersey – This Wilson road blue sample shirt has the seven-button front, and red-on-navy tackle twill identifiers; the “Twins” font on the front of the shirt differs from actual gamers.
