To call this an old-fashioned auction lot hardly does it justice; this aggregation of eclectic baseball souvenirs and memorabilia is remarkably diverse and intriguing. Starting with an imposing archive of the iconic Reach Guides from 1904 to 1924, add in an attractive oversized team photo of the 1941 NL Champions Brooklyn Dodgers, a 1967 Sports Illustrated Henry Aaron Poster, and a whole lot more. Here’s the breakdown: 1) Reach Baseball Guides (American League) from 1904 to 1920 (11) – The 4 ½-by-6 ¾-inch Guides run from 350 to 600 pages, with most missing covers and in Poor condition but still an amazing historical archive of turn-of-the-century baseball – Years 1904, 1909, 1911, 1917 (2),1920, 1921, 1923 and 1924 (2); 2) 1961 Topps Baseball Stamps in Official Album, with album in Good condition and 63 American League Stamps reasonably well affixed and including (most are Good to Fair) including Ashburn, Roberts, McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Aparicio, Wynn, Kaline, Kaat, Berra and Ford; 3) Huge Color Photo of 1941 National League Champion Brooklyn Dodgers, 22-by-15 inches, laminated, and insert from the Sunday News – Good condition; 4) Baltimore Orioles 1960s – 19-by-12 inches, Very Good; 5) 19th Century color lithograph of a pitcher, 23-by-12 inches, technically Poor because of some paper loss, but could be close-cropped matted to good effect; 6) George Ban Umpire School 29-inch Pennant, for Umpire School, with some felt loss but still presents decently with vivid orange, yellow and blue colors; 7) 1950s Bazooka Bats Store Display Gauge, in great condition, with two 22-inch bats attached to 6 ½-inch in diameter baseball; 8) 1967 Sports Illustrated Henry Aaron 24-by-36-inch color poster (Poor); 9) Prewar sepia-toned 18-by-11-inch photograph of “OGD” minor-league or industrial league ballclub – Excellent with some light curling; and 10) 1959 Vic-Ed baseball-sized plastic viewer with a chip to the eyepiece.
