This Is an intriguing offering of what is easily the most important and coveted baseball card issue of the Depression Era, the fabled 1933 Goudey set, an array that includes many of the great stars of the period. The only discouraging word is that while the cards seemingly present in a Good to Very Good fashion, the vast majority have been trimmed to approximately 2 ½ inches vertically, with the ubiquitous “Big League Chewing Gum” corporate message panel unceremoniously banished at the bottom. Still, for an iconic issue notoriously difficult to either find or afford in almost any grade, the lot represents a unique opportunity to pick up nearly three dozen important cards in one fell swoop. The Hall of Fame roster features Foxx, Terry and Gomez in full-sized cards, with Durocher, O’Doul, Judge and Averill (2) in the shortened versions. The lineup of the balance: No. 4, 9, 12, 14, 18, 28 (mk), 37, 50, 69, 72, 78, 81, 90, 91 (2), 101, 116, 148, 162 (2), 171, 172, 173, 178 and 190.
