This is a neat lot of a truly important Depression Era baseball issue, the quirky 1934 Goudey “Lou Gehrig Says” set, found here in a condition range that is fairly typical of how this issue is encountered in mature collections. With almost no duplication, the lot represents essentially 60 percent of a complete set, with a condition range pretty evenly divided between Good/Fair and Poor. It comes out to roughly 17 percent Good, 37 percent Fair and 44 percent Poor, with the majority of the cards deemed Poor saddled with the grade because of paper loss or residue to the card backs; one card, No. 38 reaches Excellent with an (mk) qualifier. Some of the keys from the lot include Grove (Poor), Terry (Poor), Vaughan (Good), Koenig (Poor) and Earnshaw (Poor).
