October 24, 2024: Fall Auction
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/24/2024
Presented is a massive group of 16 complete sets of the groundbreaking 1981 Topps Baseball issue, the company’s inaugural effort as the dawn of the modern baseball card business arrived with two new competitors heralding the beginning of remarkable expansion. This huge group is pretty uniformly Near-Mint to Near-Mint to better, with a few Near-Mint and boasting exceptional color and gloss and super-clean card backs. There is no discernible difference between the Tier One Hall of Famers and the rest of the gang; there are the occasional off-center cards that would typically be encountered in issues yielded in total or in part from vending. The historic 1981 Topps issue (726) presents in a stunning, uniform and consistent fashion, a consistency that extends to each of the 16 offered sets totaling a whopping 11,616 cards in all. The lot is a great opportunity to pick up a history-making issue in pristine condition and ample quantities.
