Presented is a nice example of the quirky 1962 Topps Football Bucks Inserts, a near set of 42 of the 48 “Bucks,” found here in a highly collectible mostly Near-Mint condition. The 1 ¼-by-4 ¼-inch inserts picture the top players in the game on bills of $1, $5 and $10-dollar denominations. They were inserted (folded once) in packs of 1962 Topps Football and were notoriously difficult in terms of centering and miscutting. The offered group as mentioned above is largely in Near-Mint condition, with a few Ex-Mt, and the key stars typically conforming to the wider condition range. A handful of outliers include: the No. 3 Dick James Buck is undersized top to bottom; a miscut No. 7 Jim Brown; and No. 11 Tittle (Excellent) and No. 45 Jurgensen (Excellent-Plus). The lot represents a great opportunity to pick up a popular and condition-sensitive grouping of one of Topps early insert efforts.
