Presented is a stunning and highly coveted example of a difficult food issue from the inaugural season of the expansion Minnesota Twins in 1962, a complete, flattened Franklin Dairy milk carton that features a 3 ¾-by-7 ¾-inch “card” of perhaps the most revered figure in Twins’ history, Harmon Killebrew, the Hall of Famer who was one of the most-feared sluggers of his era. The 11-time All-Star ended his fabled career with 573 home runs, bashing more than 40 eight times between 1959 and 1970, led the American League in homers six times, three times in RBIs and was the 1969 AL Most Valuable Player. Those 573 homers placed him fifth all time when he retired in 1975; the ensuing homer-happy half-century has pushed him down that list somewhat. Killebrew is pictured in black-and-white, with spot red and blue colors featured in graphic elements and printing. Given the atypical venue of a card printed on a waxed milk carton, the survivability of these treasures from that historic Twins ball club makes them difficult to find, which enhances the demand to greater levels. The next step up is then finding these rarities in complete, virtually untouched full carton measuring 13-by-7 ½ inches, an example that is easily Ex-Mt to Near-Mint.
