This is a nice complete set of the first issue of the decade of the 1960’s, with the vast majority of the cards here found in the Very Good to Excellent range, with some below and above, with the emphasis probably in the Very Good. As you often see with Topps issues from this period, the condition often improves a bit from the first to second series. A good number of the Hall of Famers and stars are in really nice condition; it’s notable to see so many of the key HOFers in grades above the broader range of the issue. Most of the World Series cards could also be described in this manner; another anomaly would be that the high numbers actually tend to be in overall better condition than much of the earlier series, more likely closer Ex to Ex-Mt. While some of the team cards wind up with a Poor grade, that’s representative of pen and pencil marks on the checklists on the back, with the cards themselves often presenting in a better range. Just to keep things interesting, there is also an extra No. 200 Willie Mays card included, as well as an extra No. 350 Mickey Mantle.
