This is a nice pairing of souvenir programs from two key historical events in the 1950’s: the 1953 All-Star Game at Crosley Field in Cincinnati and the 1954 World Series. The All-Star Game program presents about Excellent, with a few small creases visible on the cover. The 8 ½-by-11-inch program is 52 pages printed in red and blue on the covers and in black-and-white on the inside pages. The inside scorecard is completely untouched; the magazine includes the history of the first 19 All-Star Games, dozens of iconic action photos and portraits of the great stars of the era and even a full-page advertisement on Page 3 trumpeting the 1953 Topps Baseball cards as “the finest series ever published.” The 1954 World Series program from Cleveland Stadium presents a bit better than the All-Star program but has a bit of damage to the spine and even a bit of paper loss from the back cover. The covers are also printed in red and blue, while the 62 pages inside are printed in black-and-white with green and red spot color. The scorecard section has been comprehensively scored in pencil; the inside center pages feature a black-and-white team photo of the home team Indians, with red spot color highlights. Like the All-Star program it is loaded with dozens of instantly recognizable photos from the era, including many that would turn up on Topps baseball cards over the decade.
