Presented is a key piece from the personal collection of beloved Chicago Hall of Famer Ron Santo, his 1965 Rawlings Gold Glove, noting his preeminence as the top third sacker in the National League. For Santo this was the second of five consecutive Gold Glove Awards for his stellar third base play and the only one of the five that has been offered for public auction. That season he ranked first in the National League in Defensive Games Played, Putouts and Assists. For this, he was awarded the offered original Rawlings Gold Glove Award trophy. The stunning display features “Rawlings Gold Glove Award” engraved on a golden diamond that rises from the base along with the titular gold glove and a gilded baseball. Engraved below are the words, “3B --Ron Santo-- 19 The Sporting News 65, National League All-Star Fielding Team.” A fitting prize for one of the greatest ever to field the position. Dimensions approximately 16-by-15 inches, and 6 ½ inches deep. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Santo family.
