Offered is cheery 1941 letter to a Detroit Tigers fan from the club’s manager, Red Rolfe, a missive on Detroit Baseball Club letterhead and dated May 4, 1942. Rolfe, the Tigers’ manager from 1949-52 and a former third baseman for the Yankees during the Depression years, refers to a woman named Babe Blanco and thanks her for her “swell” letter. Printed on an 8 ½-by-8-inch page that is in Near-Mint condition, the letter also has swell commentary from Rolfe about his ace lefthander, Hal Newhouser, along with concurring with Miss Bianco about their disdain for the Cleveland Indians. The Red Rolfe signature in blue ballpoint is nothing short of exquisite. Comes with the mailing envelope with Tigers return address, Detroit postmark and cancelled 3-Cent stamp. Basic COA from BAS.
